Transforming Lives Through Expert Occupational Therapy & Specialist Literacy Support for Children & Adults.
Marigold Occupational Therapy
Meet Genevieve – Occupational Therapist & Specialist Literacy Support.
With over a decade of experience, I provide compassionate, evidence-based support to individuals across the lifespan from young children to older adults, navigating physical, developmental, cognitive, and sensory challenges. My work spans the education, community, and private sectors, always guided by a commitment to personalized care and meaningful outcomes.
In recent years, I have expanded my practice to focus on school-aged children, both primary and secondary who have challenges with the following:
🧠 Dyslexia
✍️ Dysgraphia & Handwriting Difficulties
🤸♂️ Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD)
🚀 ADHD
📚 Literacy Challenges
🏫 School Avoidance
This work complements my ongoing support for individuals of all ages and needs.
I offer expertise in the following assessments and reports for individuals of all ages:
➤ Functional Capacity Assessments: Gain a holistic view of strengths, challenges, and support needs across home, work, school and community settings.
➤ Sensory Profile Assessments: Discover how sensory preferences impact focus, regulation, and daily routines — with practical strategies for success.
➤ Activity of Daily Living (ADL) Assessments: Support independence in everyday tasks like grocery shopping, catching public transport, and navigating the world with confidence.
➤ NDIS Review Reports & Assistive Technology Recommendations including tailored suggestions for aids and equipment.
My approach is neuro-affirming and deeply informed by both clinical training and lived experience as a parent of a neurodiverse child. I understand the journey — and I’m here to help others navigate theirs with clarity, empathy, and practical support.
Specialist Literacy Support
Certified in Multi-Sensory Structured Language (MSL) which is an evidence based teaching approach that builds foundational skills in reading, writing, and handwriting, I spent 18 months working exclusively in this field.
This is an approach that provides evidence based interventions based on the science of reading and the science of learning
My motivation to specialise in learning disabilities is deeply personal. As the parent of a child with severe dyslexia, I have experienced firsthand the challenges that both the child and the family supporting the child can face within the education system. My child’s journey inspired me to become both a practitioner and an advocate committed to creating inclusive, responsive neuro-affirming support for neurodiverse learners.

What makes our literacy support unique?
Currently if you have a child who needs specialist literacy support for needs such as dyslexia, there is no funding available as it is not recognized by NDIS nor any other government funding body. And the out of pocket expenses can be humongous (I know from lived experience).
Marigold Occupational Therapy offers integrated literacy intervention alongside occupational therapy. This means families may be eligible to claim rebates through Medicare or Private Health Insurance, significantly reducing out-of-pocket costs.
No more 100% out-of-pocket fees. Just meaningful support made more accessible.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to learn more about how Marigold Occupational Therapy can support your child’s learning journey.
The ‘contact’ button at top of the website allows you to complete an expression of interest form or you can contact Marigold Occupational Therapy via phone or email.
Our Services
Marigold Occupational Therapy is a mobile OT service which means that we come to you, whether that be your school, home, work or community setting.
Marigold Occupational Therapy also provides telehealth services.
Currently providing therapy to the north-east of Melbourne. Suburbs include: Bundoora, Macleod, Greensborough, Reservoir, Kingsbury, Heidelberg, Rosanna, Viewbank and surrounds.
What to expect:
Phone Consultation
Prior to our first therapy session, a 15 minute phone consultation will be conducted to get an overview of the child or adult’s strengths and challenges. This is also to understand what the individual wants and needs which is such an important part of the therapy pathway.
What to Expect at Your First Appointment
🦋 The first session will include a comprehensive initial assessment, which typically lasts 30-60 minutes.
This could involve either a standardised and/or informal assessment (such as observations or a screener assessment), depending on the child’s or adult’s age, abilities, and individual needs.
The purpose of this assessment is to gain a clear baseline understanding. This baseline understanding will then guide therapy interventions, sessions and goals.
🎯 Tailored to the Child or Adult
Every child and adult is unique, so the assessment approach is flexible and personalised.
👪 After the Assessment
Once the assessment is complete, a follow-up meeting will be arranged between Marigold Occupational Therapy and the participant or the parent/carer to discuss the results and answer any questions. If required, a detailed report can be provided to assist with funding, school support, or NDIS documentation.
